    Hi Folks,

I finally got into the first stages of getting the first '53 F-100 project under way. I spent yesterday and today working on getting my rolling chassis and my drive train cleaned up. The plan is to get the '99 Explorer rolling chassis cleaned up and sandblasted. As soon as I do that I'll get some primer on it to keep it from rusting. I won't be painting it for some time as there is a lot of welding and modifications to make. I also spent a lot of time pressure washing and degreasing the engine, tranny and transfer case. I'll be keeping all that stuff together until I am done doing a fit test. The plan is to get the drive train in the chassis and then fit the Explorer's floor pan and firewall over the drive train. Next I will be grafting the '53 cab onto the Explorer floor pan and firewall. So far it's just been a lot of stripping, cleaning and pressure washing. However, all this needs to be done first.

If the good weather holds out I will be doing sandblasting and spraying on some protective coats of primer in the next few days. I am dreading the sandblasting as I always end up getting the blasting media in every place including my ears and underwear. The only saving grace is the reward of getting the stuff cleaned up and readt to paint. I just need to get it all done before harsh Winter weather comes.

The drive train is a 351w from an '83 F-150 4WD. It runs good but I intend to do some work on it. It leaked a lot of oil from gaskets and such. I won't be doing the engine until I get all the fitting work done. I just need to get the damn thing cleaned up so I could get near it without getting that black grease and grime all over me.

I'll try to get a few pioctures of the past two days progress posted.

    Later Folks...
