as much as i hate to say it i don't wanna see noone car co. go under . as he said the impact would be horrific to us all . even the furrin' companies employ many many peeps . bad part is big bro has a controlling interest in gm now , so there goes any hope of real cars ever being produced again .

I have a suspicion that if GM gets their act together, Uncle Sam will be bought out of it sooner than you realize by the stock market. If the stock starts to rise people will buy it trying to make a buck. That's when Uncle Sam will cash in. If they don't perform they will just die because they got all their likely to get. No mattter what happens, we stil got more for our money that we did from that stupid war in Iraq that we are still pouring money into. We get nothing for that and loose American lives to boot.
As for making real cars, that will be determined by the market demand.

Re: Pretty good article
to me dave that's the problem . the general public as a group not counting us motorheads has settled for CRAP for so long and accepted it that i think it'd going to continue . i for one have owned many cars of rear drive that got as good or better mileage than many of these so called modern miracles . hell that 200 dollar bird i have just averaged a 150 mile trip at 29.7 mpg and i don't baby it like the 53 . had a 85 delta 88 more door that got 28-30 all the time . they were / are still kinda cheesy plastic vehicles , but they were at least rear drive v-8's . the crap will continue i'd be willing to wager .....................

No worries for cheesey plastic cars. The govt. will crush all of them soon enough. Only thing left will be brand new, and expensive collector old. I, for one who can only afford 10 year old vehicles, will be stuck with what I have, lol.
