Thanks, Dave! Tomget has been helping me so far with the basics. I guess it's up to me on execution. LOL! Like I said, I moved out here to Colorado from Los Angeles, California. I lived 7 miles from Pomona Fairgrounds and that wonderful swapmeet. I used to go everytime it opened. Bought my '66 El Camino there (miss it!). Now, I have nothing to do. I bought a 1953 Buick hardtop out here. I have redone the brakes all the way around. It runs and doesn't blow smoke or burn oil. I am swapping it over to an alternator and 12v. It needs welding here and there but I have NO experience even though I bought a craftsman mig to use. Hey, how are you going to learn without trying? LOL! Anyways, if people have ideas on how I can not destroy this car, please feel free to help me out. I am also looking for a decent, reecnt wire harness to replace teh 1953 stff. I had a 53 Chevy coupe that I did it too in th elate 1990s. I used a wire harness out of a 1972 Monte Carlo and it worked out great. But cars from the 70s are pretty much gone now from boneyards. The cars from the 90s have too much computer this and that, so I am still looking. Trying to avoid paying $200 for a harness since I have always built cars on the cheap. LOL! I have always painted my own cars and worked on them mechanically. Anyways, if anyone could help (like Tomget), that would be seriously appreciated.

    Hi Roy,
As I see it from what I just read in your post, you are just the kind of guy this message board was intended for. There are some places around here that there are still 70s vintage stuff that could be good donors for things like the electrical stuff. This is the rust belt and you won't see much of that vintage stuff worth fixing because they are rusted away. If you knew what you wanted I might be able to find it. I am president of our car club, see www.TheRollinOldies.org and if you want to see some of the stuff I'm into you can go to my Youtube Channel

    https://www.youtube.com/user/DavesRides?feature=mhee

or you can check out some of my Photobucket stuff at

    https://s814.photobucket.com/albums/zz61/Darkside-Dave/

Don't be afraid to as around here. Look through some of the posts and categories. And BTW, I see you are relatively new here so welcome to the board. We're a pretty small group as boards go but we have folks from seven different countries around the world. You may have noticed that we don't have any of the senseless. BS and flaming going on here. If it happens I'm on it. However, it doesn't happen so that makes my job here easy. How did you find us???

    Later Man...
