My Truck? Trucks? Well here comes the flack I know. I only have two trucks right now, my Slick and My Aero. Yeah right WTH is this guy talking about Slick? , . . . . . Aero ? ? ? ?
My Slick is a 66 F-100 SWB Style Side Custom Cab on a 79 F-159 trailer Special SWB chassis with a D2VE Based 385 series FoMoCo engine and a C-5 3spd A/T both built to run. The best ET has been 12.60s. My best TE was a 124.455. Avg' TE is right at 120+ in a 1320. I know 120+ Mph is a smidgeon high on a 12.60 index but when ya get yer 460 right it makes Gobs of torque. That allows you install taller gears & get TE/Mph for big wins. Fun is when an opponent just knows you're beat but then you go past him 150/200 ft out of the traps @ 25 or 30 mph more then he's going. It's also fun to jack the truck up to swap DOT's for street wheels & tires for the trip home. The guy you just beat is loading his chevelle on his trailer with a bad attitude. It's one of those "Racin' Things". I will write another post about My Aero. . . .

    Dave,
The guy's who really say "What the hell was that?" are the guys in Northstars and copy cat cars of the Mopar Muscle Machine era. What I have to watch out for is those Cobra versions in new Mustangs. Those suckers are "BAD to the Bone Fast". The Only real advantage I have over them is I don't have $40+K in my slick. Heh heh heh heh. Laughing

Yeah, I can relate to that. Years ago in my not so wise youthful era I had a period where I would litterally build stuff from the junk yards. I'd get some really tame looking little grocery getter and put a pretty fast running gear in it and then go out and smoke the new toys. One of the funniest deals was more recent. In the first year or two I had my '03 F-350 diesel, I used to get a kick out of blowing away the rice burners between lights. We have a street here in town that is a rather well traveled route that comes to a right turn to stay on the route. All the little rice jockeys try to get in the left lane at the lights and blow ahead of the people in the right lane so they can get over to make the right turn. If they can't do it they are forced to go straight on a minor service street and get back around to the main route. Needless to say, Big Blue embarrassed more than a few of them. The part that was really funny is they would always get me for the first few feet while the turbo spooled up. After that they quickly became dissapointed. If we were more than one block away from the turn they would obediently pull in behind me for the rest of the route. For me the fun was in seeing the surprised look on their face and the way their buddies in their car ribbed them. I could give a fat rat's ass about winning, I was into shock and awe.

Back in the early '80s I had an old '59 Chevy 2 ton dump truck I bought to use on the farm. It had a 235 six that was so poor it wouldn't get it up the hill on my farm with a load. I found a monster engine and completely rebuilt it including balancing, a competition clutch, a better cam and high compression pistons. It looked as though it would fall apart at the traffic light but could light up those big duallys and sounded like a drag car. That thing was a barrell of fum to drive because it scared the hell out of people.

I guess all the above add up to show why I have kind of a fondness for rat rods. I don't have one but I am helping koth get one together. He is using a high output 5.0L likle the '89 Mustag GT's had. It ought to make for a few surprised looks. I'd like to have one of those in a Pinto. Speaking of Pintos, I haven't seen one of those in a long time. I'd like to get my hands on a decent body but there just aren't any around here in the rust belt.

    Hey Kevin,

Have you forgotten about your frame??? If I didn't have to keep moving it around I sure would have by now. No matter where I move that thing, it always ends up being in the way. You might want to keep in mind that I'm getting old. If I croak you are out of luck. My wife will just call the junk man and have all the teasures hauled away...

It's better that you don't try and explain stuff to people... they just get more confused. You just tell them the size trailer you want and let it go at that. I am keeping your frame on one of my trailers but we had to take it off to haul the remains of a '90 Lincoln Mark 7 body to the scrap yard yesterday. Normally it's not in the way.

BTW, coming up 75 you would have to take at least a 300 mile detour to get the frame. If you come up from Florida you should take 77 North from Columbia, SC. It passes right through here.
