Darksider's Realm

(this is not a place for lazy video game freaks. We Darksiders have been around doing our thing for decades before the mindless couch blobs latched onto the term Darksider)

DARKSIDER In the world of automotive hobbyists a Darksider is one who modifies and or customizes any and all sorts of vehicles. The Darksiders are in a class of their own simply because they endeavor to be different and do things that others would not attempt for a number of reasons mostly being related to a lack of ability and fear of non conformity.

This is a forum for people who think outside the box in everything they do. It doesn’t matter if you are modifying or building from scratch. It doesn’t matter what brand or brands of vehicles or components you are using. It doesn’t matter if you are working on a mini car or a bus.

We will not be asking you for donations or any kind of monetary payments. We will be asking for help in terms moderators and encouraging you to spread the word and add to our membership.

    1953 F-800 Empty 1953 F-800

My major project is my 53 Ford F-800 semi. Basically, I have highlighted it in the Big Truck section, but I'll give up a brief description here too. The donor frame and power train came from a 1974 Ford L-8000. Caterpillar V-8, Spicer trannies (5x4). Twin screww, full air brake. The bodu came from my 1953 Ford F-750 fire truck. This truck came from DeWitt, IA, and had 6800 miles on it when I got it. It had 7200 when I stripped it down. I was going to restore the nearly perfect fire truck, but decided to part it out after discovering the second rate brand and quality of the apparatus. Some no name company from the 50's that went out of business with a very small number of produced trucks. It would of cost me tens of thousands of dollars to resote the truck, as I would of had to of started from scratch and search for unit to rebuild it with.....not worth it. Basically, that's it in a nutshell. I am eyeballing another fire truck, this one is a 54 F-900, in far better shape than my 53 was, but with a few thousand more miles.
