    Ok, here we go again. Here is my '62 Fairlane build thread. Short
    backstory: I originally started in left field with two projects, unsure
    how it would pan out, and it just kinda veered from there. Instead,
    I'll add pics and captions showing what I'm doing, as it happens to
    this one car. I'll try to keep it going with updates as often as I
    can, but right now two things will deter progress: MN Winter, and
    unemployment. However, the next few posts will show disassembly, which
    doesn't cost a whole lot, lol. Anyhow, here it goes....

    Friend's neighbor had this '62 Fairlane for sale...cheap.

    Hey Scott,

    Good to hear from you. I thought maybe you were snowed in up there. I was just looking at your car and I remembered my dad having the station wagon version of your car with a 260 V8 in it. It was his work car. As I remember it was also a real dog. What did you say you were going to put in that one???

    Nothing to add? What's the current plan? Going nice street cruiser, all out weekend warrior? Answers dang it, we want answers..... Looks to be a real straight car though. I like them old cars, aint nuttin better. By the way, you need more pictures man.

    Dude, you should seriously consider "shaving" the stainless on the drip rail Twisted Evil I could use the stainless on my '63 Sedan, since they have the same roof.

    I got a dumb ? is that car a unibody or does it have a full frame?

    Those are uni-body cars Andrew. They actually have the same front end as the Falcon, and Mustang.

    Long story short, as I have been trying to liquidate everything to keep from losing the property, the fairlane was not bought by anybody (couple newer cars were sold), and since work has got better, the car sits in the garage again. I managed to get a free Explorer axle for it, and been measuring up the F1 front axle before I start cutting. I also got a cheap trailer (pickup frame, no bed) that needs a longer hitch and deck built to hold the body shell on, so that it can be wheeled into the garage when need be.

    Hey Havi,

    Glad to have you back... I was starting to wonder about you...

    So you work is picking up again eh? That's good to hear. It sounds like you are yet another victim of circumstance, you can have your money or you can have your time. But you just can't have both and you don't get to pick the timing.

    I kind of like that thing you got the rear axle and the front suspension stacked on. Looks like a good way to move that stuff around. Unfortunately, I don't have room for it now and that sort of stuff stays outside.

    Dave, that "cart" is a tube rack from work that they were throwing out. I put it on one of those $15 furniture dollies, lol. It's 4x4 3/8" wall tube with 3/4" plate (cut out on the burn table) welded on for the cantilevers. 2x2 1/4" angle to hold them together.

    Still alive, just not getting anything done. I decided to step back and put the horse before the cart for once. I've been cleaning the garage, and got heat installed (we'll see how effective it is) and am next working on getting hard lines for air installed with a tee to go out back for soda/sand blasting. Tooling up, if you will. Also still working on the trailer to hold the Fairlane shell.

    I have spent years in that mode and I still need to do more. I never seem to get it all like I want it.

    Not much new to add. I moved the Fairlane out back, and the Mercury Meteor in just to try and get it running (most complete car I have). Been dealing with a lot of issues as of late, and so everything auto related got put on the back-burner. Hopefully the heater will help during the Winter. Otherwise it could be a long 9 months, lol.
