well besides not accomplishing a dain thing for the most part from work , i managed to start rewiring the old girl . i'm using the harness from the 87 vic , and making up some as i go along , but trying to stay as close as i can to the vics colour codes to make it a little easier to figure out . made some cardboard mockups of the brackets i need to make for the vic's calipers onto the 53's spindles . figured out how to install the sway bar on the straight axle . figured out the shock mounts on the 8.8 are perfect for the soon to be lowered truck , as they sit like 3 1/2 inches lower than the stock ones on the dana , giving me the right compressed length on them { THIS is the rear ones } . have to wait and get the reversed eye springs and the front all together to measure and make the front ones . been staring and scribbling on how to put the vic's tank in the front of the bed , mounted on a removeable framework attached to the frame . still haven't completely finished the chev dizzy that's cut down for the flatty . got more but i'm sure i'll bore ya with it later ............. scratch

well i changed the gas tank idea . had a 20 + gallon beer keg given to me , so geuss what's going in the bed ??? also put it in the air and literally chopped all the old wiring out of it and took out everything related to the electrical system, and the seat , and am working at a snails pace it seems . adapting the vic's blower motor to my oe system as well as adding the vic's blower speed control switch , disguised with an oe knob epoxied on , and a cable operated coolant shutoff in the in tube of the heater core , both from some stuff i pirated from a mitsubishi my unk was scrapping .gotta fix the 200 dollar beater 95 bird tommorrow or i'd start making my disc brake brackets and knocking the coil suspension pieces off the 8.8 diff to get the perches welded on and in the truck . welp gotta go ! later !

    Hey Kevin,
Glad to see you are posting your progress. I have to wonder how you are doing all this without your frame. You will have to explain all that when you come to get it.

Keep up the good work Man...

you'll like stu dave . good guy and a sincere person .he's the kind of guy that if he'd call and tell me he needed my last dollar i'd give it tohim as he'd do the same thing for you .i was hoping to have that frame here as it made sense to work on it make all my brackets etc. on it as there is obviously nithing in the way , and make it purty . then start dropping the driveline etc. into it as i got done . oh well , such is the way things go .. i still hope to have it back up and running one way or another by the time the mother road festival gets here . gotta go irritate some of the chainers with my ugly old p.o . s ya know Very Happy

OK Kevin, I'll bite... What's a chainer? Don't think I ever heard of that one before.

Hey, Something occurred to me... As you know, I'm tearing down that old Red '53. At this point all I have is the frame with engine, tranny, suspension ans whels on it. I think I have the tranny and driveshaft sold and given time I will probably find someone who wants the engine. I also plan on trying to sell the front and rear axels, springs and hangers. The frame itself is a real rust dog and it isn't worth trying to use for anything. I was going to cut it up and take it in to the scrap yard. I do think it would be usefull to use as a mock up to make cuts on to test the fit of a front or rear donor suspension on. It also has the additional V-8 front cross member that you will need for your frame if you are using a V-8. I was thinking that if truck dog has room he could just toss this frame on top of the other one and you might get some use out of it. I don't want it and what I would get for scrap price is probably not worth messing with it right now. if you want it I will try to get it stripped and ready to go. Please understand, I would not recommend trying to use this frame. It even has a rusted through place in it. But like I said, it would make a great cut and fit mock-up.

i actually have all sorts of extra brackets etc. from a couple of rusty turds myself , and a v-8 crossmember , but i would still take it jus' cause im a packrat ..... but stu will most likely be on his own and have to winch the one up on the trailer , so i dont think i'd even ask him bout the other as he's doing me a huge favor as it is .. so i geuss i'll have to pass for now . as far as the suspension , this ol' girl is gonna stay tried and true , straight axle up front and the 8.8 with spring perches added to mount to my leaves . now as for future projects who knows .... i think though i'll leave well enough alone for now as i tend to get way too deep in the because of constraints give up or go batty ... besides i think i'm gonna drag race the bird next year . i seriously appriciate the offer dave . now im off to beat my head against the wall with wiring . using a 53 ignition switch , 74 light switch , 84 ford 1/2 ton intermittent wiper switch and assembly , 87 wiper motor .... get the pic ??? using what i got and this is one of my weak areas so i will be cussin' and throwing things for awhile ........ LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s thought i had the front brakes , two complete sets , the oe dana 44 , and the oe master cylinders traded to a guy building a traditional rod for a 67 rust free fairlane ranchero body , minus the driveline . biggest hurdle woulda been it's in arkansas . solution my lil' bro lived there and has to go back to pick up the rest of his stuff as he's back here . dain if he didna sell it before we could get it done ............. oh yeah a chainer is someone with a six figure or better car he bought or paid someone to build and thinks he's god's gift too the automotive world .........

    OJK, I get it !!!

I put the whole rolling chassis on Craig's list and there seems to be some interest in it so maybe I'll be getting rid of it sooner than I thought. If not and I sgtill have the old frame I can help load it on your buddies trailer. The bare fram can be moved and loaded by two men. We just moved your's again today. It seems that no matter where i put that thing I end up moving it. I got way too much stuff here. If it is still here and you want it I can see that it gets loaded but it sounds as though you really don't need it.

Maybe I didn't explain myself well enough... Your frame that you paid for is here and safe for you to get whenever... The other rusty old rolling chassis is up for sale with the Y-block and T-98 on it. Bigwin from the FTE is thinking of buying it. He is coming to trade some doors for that rare Ford radio I have. He said he has some stuff you are buying from him and also said you would be coming to his place to pick it up and offered to haul your frame up to his place near Akron. Is that so??? He said he was going to contact you about it. Did he???

He may not want the frame with the engine and tranny. I'll let you know.

Any word on when someone will be coming for your frame?
