DARKSIDER In the world of automotive hobbyists a Darksider is one who modifies and or customizes any and all sorts of vehicles. The Darksiders are in a class of their own simply because they endeavor to be different and do things that others would not attempt for a number of reasons mostly being related to a lack of ability and fear of non conformity.

This is a forum for people who think outside the box in everything they do. It doesn’t matter if you are modifying or building from scratch. It doesn’t matter what brand or brands of vehicles or components you are using. It doesn’t matter if you are working on a mini car or a bus.

I would like to introduce myself and say high to everyone. I found this forum while lurking over on FTE, and after reading a post where someone criticized another for modifying a F600, I was intrigued and thought this would be a great place to check out.

My name is David and I live in Archdale N.C. (small city outside of High Point and Greensboro). I am a Traffic Signal System Manager for the city of High Point (I play with traffic lights all day) and have been for there for 20yrs.

When I was 16 I traded my '67 mustang for a '56 F100 and loved that truck. After high school i reluctantly sold it and have missed it ever since Then in '94 I bought a solid '53 F100 with plans to make a street rod out of it ….. Let’s just say a few little girls, dirty diapers and time has kept me from completing it. The truck had set torn apart in my basement for a while and a couple of years ago I decided I should get back to it.

I have welded in a Volare(84 Fifth Ave) front suspension and have installed Ranger leaf hangers for the 8.8 rear end I got out of an Explorer. I have a Lincoln 460 (on the engine stand) with a c6 to put in it.

Like I said before I have been lurking around off and on for years over at FTE, and now that I have started back on the truck would like to share my build with others….. so thanks for having me.

    Welcome Aboard,

Kick your shoe's off and stay a while. That 56 sounds like one heck off a project. I can't wait to see and hear more. It's pretty cool here Kinda laid back. I really don't think you'll find anyone on here that will criticize your work. If you need anything just give myself or Darkside Dave a shout....

    Hi Superdave,
Glad you had a chance to do an introduction. We're all pretty laid back here. we don't have a lot of silly rules and Nazi moderators. Maybe you seen them by now but if not, we only have five simple rules. We don't have posting requirements that say you can only do this or that if you have so many posts. we are pretty much self regulating here and since we are a small board we don't have much trouble with people acting up. We're all about the builds here. I think maybe you have experienced some of that stuff going on over at the FTE and I know it is bad on some other boards.

Your project sounds interesting and I would like to encourage you to start a build thread in the Pick Up truck forum. Getting pictures posted is kind of a pain but we will help whenever you are ready. You will need to get a Photobucket account or with some similar service or have a personal web page. The servers that host this board do not want to provide storage space for lots of pictures so they have it set up to pull pics from other places online.

OK, that about covers it all I think.

    Later Man...
