Darksider's Realm

(this is not a place for lazy video game freaks. We Darksiders have been around doing our thing for decades before the mindless couch blobs latched onto the term Darksider)

DARKSIDER In the world of automotive hobbyists a Darksider is one who modifies and or customizes any and all sorts of vehicles. The Darksiders are in a class of their own simply because they endeavor to be different and do things that others would not attempt for a number of reasons mostly being related to a lack of ability and fear of non conformity.

This is a forum for people who think outside the box in everything they do. It doesn’t matter if you are modifying or building from scratch. It doesn’t matter what brand or brands of vehicles or components you are using. It doesn’t matter if you are working on a mini car or a bus.

We will not be asking you for donations or any kind of monetary payments. We will be asking for help in terms moderators and encouraging you to spread the word and add to our membership.

    35 Ford Project

    Post  Tommy2tone on Thu Dec 03, 2009 1:40 pm

This is a picture of the 35 Ford I am going to rat rod. Plan on chopping the top 3 inches and maybe Z the frame to get that squatty look I am going for. Have a SBC and 3 speed to go in and plan on using the original straight axle and change spindles. Use the rear end from 1973 donor ElCamino. Who knows from there on. I'll keep the build posted.

Wow that's a great truck to rat rod. imo. It has that transverse front spring solid axles setup.
I've seen some done with the later front buggy springs, but they never look right to me. That's just
me. Whatever they want of course. I keep cruising Craigs list for something early like this. I have
a fantasy of building a "rat rod/road truck". Probably don't have the money or necessary lifespan but
no since in "acting dead" to soon. I'd like a truck of this era with a modern hi revving 4 or 6 turbo
motor and handling suspension. No hauling to the dump, just fast twisty road courses. Or in my case
    the twisty back roads.

    Good luck

Ended up not buying that truck. It was too hard to get out of the woods. The owner has a tractor but did not offer to help and was being a jerk about it. So I passed on it. Dave you can remove this thread if you want. I have another build going that I will put up here soon.

    No Problem...

    No Problem Tommy,

We'll just leave it here for now. It may serve as a warning top others that this kind of thing can happen. I have run into my fair share of assholes like that. People need to be aware of these jerks and look for signs that will tip them off before they get too far into a deal like you did. Sorry to hear about your problem with this dickhead.

    Later Man...

PS Maybe we need a wall of shame for these assholes...
