DARKSIDER In the world of automotive hobbyists a Darksider is one who modifies and or customizes any and all sorts of vehicles. The Darksiders are in a class of their own simply because they endeavor to be different and do things that others would not attempt for a number of reasons mostly being related to a lack of ability and fear of non conformity.

This is a forum for people who think outside the box in everything they do. It doesn’t matter if you are modifying or building from scratch. It doesn’t matter what brand or brands of vehicles or components you are using. It doesn’t matter if you are working on a mini car or a bus.

Paint Strippers GRRR Empty Paint Strippers GRRR

    Post  wmjoe1953 Tue Mar 02, 2010 1:17 am

Well, after spending hours, and hours sanding the paint off the '63 Sedan, i got pissed off, and wanted to just stop working on it for while (not good for keeping the fire burning). I decided to go the route of strippers, even though I know the neighbors aint gonna like it too much (screw em anyhow). I tried an eco- friendly batch from Wal-Mart.......WORTHLESS (it barely touched the more recent layer on the nose of the car) although it did make the old paint shine. I tried another type, from the local Bi-Mart. It at least got a pretty good bit of the second paint off the front, but wouldn't touch the factory on the rest of the car. I tried som Kleen-Strip air craft stripper from the local Car-Quest. Only moderately better than the Bi-Mart stuff. So, I went to NAPA, picked up a gallon of Martin Senour brand stripper for $30. I tried just a little bit on an area of the roof, that had factory paint on it, that nothing else would touch. I didn't even have to wait the 15 minute minimum, and a scraper took it right off in one swipe. So, I'll never use another brand again. NAPA stripper all the way baby.
