wanted the truck to go lower and really had no room for the bags so i fabricated this rear bag bracket,1st thing i did is measured and marked both sides of the frame equally, found myself a piece of used pipe that would be the right size for my c-notch,cut it to the frame width and cut it in half, tacked each half to the inside of the frame, cut out around the c-notch and welded it up, for the bags i decided to mount them on top of the rear end, found some 1/4 inch plate, measured where my bags would sit(height wise) and cut 2 pieces of plate out, welded them to both inner sides of the frame, i then cut out 2 pieces of pipe, welded my bag mounts to them and then welded them to the plates, for the rear end bag mounts i took 2 pieces of plate and welded them to the rear end allowing room for my bag mount bolt, then welded the bag mount to the plate, and i believe that was it!

Re: c-notch and air bags
Nice work!!
I wanted to pass along for anyone else that is considering baggin thier truck. Bags on top of the axle can make the truck ride extremely rough unless you setup the ride height of the truck to be at a low psi in the bag(not typical).
I almost always put the bags in front of the axle mounted to the lower bar. This will give you a better ride and more axle lift.

Re: c-notch and air bags
Now you tell me this!! man thanks for the info anyway, looked all over the net for ideas on how to install these back bags, couldn`t go in the back because of the fuel tank,on the sides of the frame will intefere with the tires, figured since i had to strenthen the c-notch area i would put the bags on the diff (less work) seen this type of set up on a few trucks but didn`t think it would ride rougher? Dooh! i gouess i`ll have a bronco instead of a f100!!

Re: c-notch and air bags
well you certainly know your way around the shop so LATER, if it even comes to that, you have some more ideas. But it looks great now so run with it!!
Heck you can even cantilever the bags (think rocker arm) to the lower bars or rear axle. Basically allowing you to put the bags in a more convienient place.

this is my pic profile over at street source. I just started on my 53 frame and want to do something a bit different. The pics of the frame were while the bed was off and it was just plumbed to move it around the driveway so its kinda ugly looking, but it looks much better now that the lines are run on the frame.
BTW, what paint or coating did you use on your frame?

Re: c-notch and air bags
I set this up quite a few years ago before this style wasa popular but now you see them more often. I laid everything out an then had Jason at Suicide Doors.com build the link pieces for me but I put it all together. My links are over 36" in length. He started laughing and wanted to make sure I knew what I was asking him to build. "nobody has ever asked for them that long before, are you sure you have room for that? what the hell are you building?"
in any case I love the setup and she rides pretty good, though I will admit that she rides a bit nose high on the freeway for max comfort. I have some drop spindles in the garage I have to make work with a little fab time(none were designed to work on my truck) that should get the comfy ride back closer to terra firma!
I love passing by family cars where the kids have to look out and down to see whos driving by! that usually garners a smile from them! A quick wink to the mom and they dissapear into the traffic hordes.
I think the links will be built a wee bit shorter for the 53!!
